On Saturday, we’ll kick off the day with a Springer Mountain Farms chicken sausage Big Green Egg BBQ, one of four BBQs over the weekend. Stop by and grab a bite! While we grill, host Kerry Diamond will chat with Chef Vivian Howard of The Chef and the Farmer in Kinston, NC (and PBS A Chef’s Life fame), and BBQ queen and cookbook author Amy Mills of 17th Street BBQ with locations in Marion and Murphysboro, IL.
At 1pm we’ll ease into some day drinking. Host Sam Benrubi will talk and taste with Thomas Rivers Brown of Chiarello Family Vineyards and Charleston Oenophiles Morgan Calcote, Femi Oyediran, and Rick Rubel.
At 2, our Communications Director Kat Johnson will catch up with Chef David Bancroft of Acre Restaurant in Auburn, AL. Chef Bancroft runs a one acre urban farm around the restaurant, which supplies a majority of the vegetables, legumes, and fruits (there are apple trees!) to the restaurant.
Next, it’s time to booze up again, this time with East Coast Sales Manager Matt Welch and Senior Brewer Sean Ellsworth of Allagash Brewing in Maine.
And then, to round out the day – more BBQ! Chef Rusty Bowers of Pine Street Market in Avondale Estates, GA will fire up the Big Green Egg and dole out delicious bites. As we grill, the heated Battle of the Carolinas goes down with Chefs John Lewis and Amalia Scatena repping South Carolina and Chef Chris Coleman from North Carolina.
