Nancie L. Katz is bringing fitness, food education, gardening skills, and more to students in Crown Heights through Seeds in the Middle and Hip2B Healthy! Erin Fairbanks and Kathline Chery invites Nancie and her two guests, Maria and Tassia, onto today’s Summer of Food segment. Tune into this installment to hear about some of the programs that students at P.S. 221 are involved with. From selling produce in the neighborhood to harvesting tomatoes and bell peppers, P.S. 221 students are really taking a liking to healthy food! Find out if Nancie plans to expand the program, and how she hopes the Hip2B Healthy Markets will instill healthful values in children for the future. Thanks to our sponsor, BluePrint Cleanse.
“We have a pilot, and we think that it works. We’ve seen test scores go up; we have children eating different foods. Oranges have ascorbic acid, and that increases acuity.” [12:00]
