Talking Transitions
How do communities connect with their government officials? Policymakers are often criticized for enacting legislation without focusing on the real issues that affect their communities. Food policy in particular has an enormous impact on the welfare of individuals. Hunger, food access, obesity, and school food are all issues where the government is able to make change. With the transition of Mayor Bloomberg to newly elected Mayor De Blasio taking place, New Yorkers found a way to organize and ensure that the new administration would be well aware of the issues that mattered most to them. Talking Transitions; a project intended to give voice to New Yorkers, organized heavily attended event on Sunday Nov 17th in Tribeca. Thanks to our sponsor, Cain Vineyard & Winery.
"I think the biggest issue...is inequality and wealth, and as a part of that, hunger." [2:50]
