Taste Washington is an annual event, that brings the top winemakers from the state into Seattle to celebrate the diversity and depth of the young (the industry only really started there 40 years ago) but increasingly renowned grape growing landscape. Because the growing regions are so far flung, it’s an awesome opportunity to meet and talk to many producers all at once.
Crystie Kisler, Finn River Farm Cidery
Taste Washington mostly revolves around beverages made with fermented grapes, but this year, for the first time, it invited artisans for whom fermented apples are their muse. Crystie Kisler’s Finn River Farm Cidery is a key player in Washington’s burgeoning cider revival, thanks to her recently planted 1000 tree antique apple orchard, ranging in old world varieties that have been lost since the days of prohibition.
