Abdi Abujebel

HRN Hall of Fame: Abdi Abujebel

Nominated by: Food Without Borders

Abdi Abujebel, an Ethiopian refugee, opened a juice bar in Harlem because he wanted there to be an inexpensive and nutritious place to eat in his neighborhood. He also opened a community center for yoga, stand up comedy, free nutrition workshops and more. So Abdi came to Harlem, identified a problem, and created a solution, despite having very little money, experience, or English. Abdi and people like him are exactly what make America great.
