Apply to the Julia Child Writing Fellowship at HRN












With support from the Julia Child Foundation, HRN is excited to offer a fellowship dedicated to food writing and radio. The Julia Child Writing Fellowship at HRN focuses on telling stories about gastronomy, the culinary arts, and the business of food.  

The fellow will dedicate up to 15 hours/week to the fellowship for six months. The fellow will support HRN programming and dedicate time to developing designated HRN podcasts.

Additional opportunities during the fellowship include: supporting HRN producers (helping with transcriptions, planning, research, rough cutting tape) as well as produce bonus editorial and audio content. 

The Julia Child Writing Fellow will receive a stipend of $5,000. This position is remote.



Applications are due Monday, November 27th, 2023 at 11:59pm.

The fellowship will begin early January 2024.



We are seeking candidates with the following characteristics: 

  • Enthusiasm for food storytelling

  • Passion for print and audio

  • Strong writing skills

  • Audio editing proficiency 

  • Highly Organized 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently
