Daniel Patterson is the Oakland-based chef and restaurateur behind Alta Group, which includes Coi and Kaya in San Francisco; Dyafa and Plum Bar in Oakland; and Alta Adams and Adams Coffee Shop in Los Angeles. He is also the co-founder of the ground-breaking fast food venture LocoL. Patterson has received numerous awards including Food & Wine Best New Chef in 1997, and James Beard Award for Best Chef: West in 2014. Patterson also contributes to publications such as the New York Times and has authored three cookbooks including The Art of Flavor, with co-author and perfumer Mandy Aftel.
