Fall Internship & Fellowship Opportunities
Do you love talking about food almost as much as you love eating it? If the answer is YES, then an HRN internship or fellowship is for you!
Positions are part-time and 100% remote. They are open to undergrads, grad students, and post-grads.
HRN internships last for six months and we ask our interns to work 15-20 hours per week. Positions are unpaid, but can be applied towards school credit. Hands-on production experience is at the core of our internships and interns leave with a published portfolio of work that has gone through a rigorous reporting and editing process. Interns at HRN have the opportunity to engage with a community of journalists, food producers, chefs and leaders!
Our interns are an integral part of our team. No matter which position you're in, you'll assist with writing, audio production, promotion, fundraising, event planning and more. You'll also have ample opportunity to build a portfolio of polished audio pieces for HRN's flagship news and storytelling podcast, Meat and Three. Check out some of our interns' past work here, here, and here.
We have internships focused on Radio & Research, Editorial, Social Media, and Audio Engineering. Learn more here.
To apply: Email [email protected] with a resume, cover letter, and audio or writing sample. Let us know if there is a specific role you're interested in.
Deadline to apply for Fall Internships is Friday, August 20 at 5pm ET. Fall internships will begin the week of September 13.
With support from the Julia Child Foundation, HRN is excited to create a fall fellowship dedicated to food writing and radio. The fellow’s work will focus on telling stories about gastronomy, the culinary arts, and family recipes.
The fellow will dedicate 15 hours/week to the fellowship for six months. The fellow will support HRN programming and dedicate time to a new collaborative series HRN is developing. The fellow will support HRN’ producers (helping with transcriptions, planning, research, rough cutting tape) as well as produce bonus editorial and audio content. In addition to receiving support and training from HRN staff, the fellow will receive mentorship and editing from a food writer. The fellow will produce at least three print pieces, three audio pieces, and a capstone project.
The fellow will receive a stipend of $2,500.
Learn more about applying here.
Applications are due August 20th at 5pm ET. The fellowship will begin August 30.
