When it comes to research and development, most industries have private company facilities, but in the US the meat industry is a strange exception. Paul Shapiro, Vice President of Farm Animal Protection of the Humane Society of the United States, explains the hypocritical relationship that the meat industry has with government as they search for handouts while pushing away any form of regulation.
