Howard Conyers was one of 32 students nationwide to receive the prestigious USDA/1890 scholarship to study bioenvironmental engineering at North Carolina A&T State University, a historically black college and university. He went on to earn his MS and PhD In Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, and now tests rocket engines for NASA. Fortunately for us, he is also an excellent pitmaster and the star of Nourish, a PBS digital series exploring the people, culture, and science of food.
