Clara Thompson
Research and Radio Intern (she/her)
Clara was raised by a restaurant family in the Hudson Valley surrounded by local agriculture and a community which valued home cooking. She graduated with a B.A. in International Affairs with a minor in Media and Film Studies from Skidmore college. Clara’s senior thesis titled “You Think What You Eat: The Role of Cuisine in Cultural Construction” utilized a digital ethnography and menu comparative analysis to examine the semiotics of cuisine in the United States. Her career journey brought her to Burlington, Vermont, another community with strong ties to farming and food. In Burlington, Clara was the General Manager of a local restaurant and also served in fine dining. She moved to New York City last spring to pursue a career in hospitality and food media, and just completed a Beverage Apprenticeship at Ci Siamo. When not eating or cooking, Clara enjoys riding her bike, watching documentaries, and spending time with her friends and family. Clara is super excited to do research and gain experience in audio journalism at Heritage Radio Network.
