Radio and Research Intern
Julian Smedley (he/him) was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine and graduated from Williams College in 2019 with a degree in French and Philosophy. He spent a half-year abroad as an English teaching assistant in France before the pandemic sent him back home to Maine, where he started working at his local butcher shop. Julian recently finished a master’s in French Studies at NYU in the summer of 2021, researching seasonal agricultural migrant workers in the South of France and the social effects of climate change on wine production. He is most passionate about issues related to food security and food justice advocacy, and seeks to better understand how policy can change the U.S. (and international) food system(s). You can catch Julian watching music documentaries, playing cribbage, and adding one more “want to go” flag to his Google Maps.
