Nettle Meadow Farm Cheese and Spirits Pairing

Over the last decade, Nettle Meadow Farm has increased the herd of sheep and goats ten- fold (still with a name for each!) and expanded distribution of its ever-growing list of cheeses across the 48 contiguous states and Hawaii over the last decade. In addition to the never-ending herd care and cheese production, increasing pasture and barn space and maintaining existing structures crowd the weekly agenda. The restoration of a century-old gem of a horse barn was a enormous venture completed two years ago. It is there, in the old hay loft, that Nettle Meadow hosts its annual mid-June Cheese and Spirits Pairing, offering a huge assortment of cheesy delicacies, each paired with a different wine, beer or cider. The lower level is still home to the farm's Joseph F. Kemp Animal Sanctuary.
This year Nettle Meadow has added to its array of ACS awards and Sofi's with two gold awards at the International Cheese Championship in Madison, WI. The farm’s Kunik®, a unique triple crème, won Gold among mixed milk bloomy rind cheeses. The new Apple Cider Fromage Frais, a goat and cow milk spread with local apple cider syrup to produce and delightfully tangy yet sweet balanced flavor, garnered Gold among mixed milk spreadable cheeses.
Long hours of hands-on labor have raised Nettle Meadow Farm’s status to an enviable position in the world of cheese.
