Southern Peanut Growers is a non-profit trade association founded in and supported by peanut farmers in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi to educate consumers about the U.S. peanut industry and its products. Nearly 70% of the U.S. peanut crop is grown in the southeast, with over 50% being grown in Georgia alone. Sustainability has become a communications priority, as chefs continue to seek out protein sources that are more environmentally friendly. Peanuts are uniquely suited here. They are nature’s zero-waste plant which conserve water and improve soil health on the farm. They're also a staple ingredient in many cultures and cuisines around the world.
