Thurman Maple Days
Thurman Maple Days is a three-weekend celebration of the annual miracle of sugaring, at that time of year when nighttime temperatures still dip below freezing but the days warm above 32°. In this little rural town four maple farms, a goat and sheep cheese farm, a certified tree farm and a llama mini-farm all throw open their barn doors and roll out the red carpet, welcoming visitors to share this magic of Adirondack springtime. Enjoy fluffy pancakes drizzled with pure maple syrup, see high-tech energy-efficient evaporators and reverse osmosis filters, and sample or shop for maple cream, cotton candy, popcorn, coffee, sugar, even tea or souvenir T’s or caps. Meet the goats behind the scenes Nettle Meadow, a nationally renowned farmstead cheese company, and sample some cheese. Get inside the head of a llama in training, and see demonstrations of woodworking and jewelry making. Don’t miss hourly trebuchet firings.
Highlighted by tours, tasting, demos and shopping, Maple Days also showcases old-fashioned country hospitality. Ask about local lodging, and plan to stay the weekend. Thurman is located in the very southern Adirondacks, minutes from Lake George Village.
