Shari Bayer is joined in the studio by Herb Karlitz, who turned a career in marketing into the creation of the celebrity chef. Karlitz cut his teeth at public relations firm Burson-Marsteller, where he worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys and Stevie Wonder.
He launched his own firm, Karlitz & Company, in 1990, in order to help bring good times, amazing food, and maybe a guest chef to corporate events.
And starting tomorrow, Harlem EatUp! will give visitors to the neighborhood and Morningside Park the chance to enjoy food, drink, and music.

"I just felt that that was entertainment [...] Chefs were just other kinds of performing artists, except their palette was on a plate." [3:55] – Herb Karlitz.
