Good Food: Kitchen Gardeners International
Roger Doiron is founder and director of Kitchen Gardeners International, a Maine-based nonprofit network of over 25,000 individuals from 100 countries who are taking a hands-on approach to relocalizing the food supply. On this installment of Good Food, Daniel Meyer chats with Roger about the importance of kitchen gardens and connecting people to their food. Hear how Kitchen Gardeners International drew inspiration from the Slow Food movement. Find out how Roger hopes to provide a network to connect gardeners with the land and knowledge to grow! How does gardening culture differ across national lines? Tune into this episode to hear more about Kitchen Gardeners International's "Sow it Forward" program, and the growing interest of fresh, quality produce in the United States. Today's show has been sponsored by Fairway Market. Thanks to The California Honeydrops for today's music.
"As much as I love the Slow Food movement, I realized the need for a group who actually had their hands in the dirt... When you grow your own food, you really get to know it." [4:10]
