Dr. Joan Dye Gussow’s mission to link food growing to nutrition science is reflected in her respected tenures at the National Academy of Sciences, the Food and Drug Administration and The National Organic Standards board. She has been the matriarch of the eat-locally-think-globally food movement. I know so many leaders today who have said “every time I think I have a new idea, I realize Joan had it 20+ years ago.” Joan is thought leader, educator and role model who’s deep commitment to health and sustainability has shaped countless organizations, individuals and policies.
