Through her journalism and books, Maryn McKenna challenges our industrialized food system with meticulous research and thoughtful insight. She always does a brilliant job, whether it’s exposing the manipulative practices of the chicken industry in the book Big Chicken: The Incredible Story of How Antibiotics Created Modern Agriculture and Changed the Way the World Eats, or reporting on new food safety issues as a frequent contributor to Wired magazine. She’s also a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Human Health at Emory University.
