The Whole Shebang
The Debut Episode!
John Wilkes delves into historic breeds in this hour long special. The heritage, traditional, rare label is hot at the moment, but what's it all about and why should we even care? Joining John is Eric Hallman, Executive Director, The Livestock Conservancy, based in Pittsboro, NC and his British counterpart Tom Beeston, Chief Executive, The Rare Breeds Survival Trust, based in Warwickshire, UK. It's the first time these two organizations have come together publically to compare notes. Following on with Megan Larmer, Manager of Biodiversity Programs at Slow Food USA who's Ark of Taste includes old and endangered livestock breeds, vegetables, fruits, fish, fowl and other foods. Next up, Master Traditional Butcher Ian Ray from Ludlow, one of the UK's foodiest towns. He sells mostly all traditional breed meat - all locally raised and processed and has done so for many years. And finally, Simon Collins - International Creative Director, casts his experienced eye over organizations looking to sell historic breed conservation to the wider public. Listen in, listen up and get The Whole Shebang.
