Steve Jenkins is responsible for introducing great European cheese to the American public at the Dean & Deluca cheese counter in the early 1980s. He went on to launch the Fairway Market chain, where he is most remembered for writing beautifully worded, poetic signs about his favorite ingredients. Today, Steve delivers the best olive oil in the businesses through his company Olive Oil Jones. Steve has been on HRN many times and was the first person to be honored in our Evolutionaries series. He always has brilliant insight on Italian and Spanish food culture, and understands quality in a way that few others do. Steve represents that old guard of person who runs markets, who knows their purveyors, and who communicates in meaningful ways with customers. Author of the foundational book The Cheese Primer, Steve is one of the all time greats.
